Storage & handling
General guidance for keeping lyophilized peptides stable and preparing solutions for in-vitro work.
Lyophilized material
- Store unopened vials at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture.
- Allow vials to reach room temperature before opening to avoid condensation.
- Brief periods at ambient temperature during transit are generally tolerated.
Reconstitution
- Swab the stopper with 70% alcohol and allow to dry.
- Introduce diluent slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than onto the cake.
- Swirl or roll gently until dissolved. Avoid vigorous shaking.
- Label with date, concentration and diluent.
Use the reconstitution calculator for concentration and volumes.
Solutions
- Store at 2–8 °C.
- For longer storage, divide into single-use aliquots and freeze to avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
- Solution stability depends on the peptide and diluent; consult the literature for the specific compound.
Diluents
Bacteriostatic water (0.9% benzyl alcohol) is suitable for multi-draw vials. Some peptides require an alternative solvent such as dilute acetic acid; consult the COA and the literature.
